The summer is drawing to an end and the 2016 seasons have started to kick-off for the University of Mount Olive fall sports teams. The men's and women's soccer, women's volleyball, and men's and women's cross country teams have reported for preseason at Mount Olive.
Teams practices are underway, and some have already had their Green/White games in preparation of the 2016 season openers.
Head Coach Jennifer Charles inaugural season at the helm of the Trojan women's volleyball team will begin September 2 in Winston-Salem, N.C. The Trojans will take on Winston-Salem State at 1 p.m. in the 2nd Annual Spike Out Hunger Challenge.
The Trojan women's soccer team will kick-off their season on September 2. Mount Olive will travel to Milledgeville, Ga. and face-off against Georgia College at 7 p.m.
Sean Brennan will start his inaugural season as the Head Coach of the Trojan men's soccer team Sept. 3. Mount Olive will travel down to Florence, S.C. to go up against Francis Marion at 7 p.m.
The defending Conference Carolinas men's and women's cross country teams will begin their quest for another championship Sept. 10 at the Furman Invitational in Greenville, S.C.
The athletic teams were not the only teams to start preparations for the new year. The University of Mount Olive's Athletic Department staff and coaches got together for two days to build momentum for the up-and-coming year.
The department spent their first day going over the past year and plans for the future. The second day took place at the NC State high ropes and challenge course in Raleigh, N.C. The staff and coaches participated in different team-building and communication activities on the low course before heading 40 feet in the air to the high ropes course. The department ended the day with a debriefing of the two-day retreat with dinner at the house of Vice-President of Athletics Jeff Eisen.
