MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - University of Mount Olive women's volleyball junior outside hitter Britni Johnson has been named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week in a release by the conference office Tuesday.
Johnson amassed 60 kills, 39 digs, and a .268 hitting percentage during the Trojans' four-game run at the 2nd Annual Spike Out Hunger Challenge hosted by Winston-Salem State University. The Durham, North Carolina native helped lead UMO to a 3-1 record in the challenge, the program's best start to a season since 2004. Johnson's best performance of the weekend came Friday in a 3-1 victory over Kutztown as she racked up 21 kills, just one shy of her career record.
Mount Olive returns to action this weekend when the Trojans compete in the USC Aiken Invitational. On Friday the Trojans will challenge host USC Aiken at 3 p.m. before taking on Merrimack College at 7 p.m. UMO will wrap up the invitational on Saturday with a noon contest against Lenoir-Rhyne University followed by a 4 p.m. clash with Lander University.
