University of Mount Olive student-athletes for an 11th consecutive semester have proven their work ethic in the classroom. Following the fall 2016 semester, the student-athletes posted an average team GPA of 3.204, the 11th straight semester over a 3.0.
The average student-athlete GPA was 3.098.
Topping the team GPA for the fall semester was the men's tennis team with an average team GPA of 3.513. The average marked the sixth straight semester the men's tennis team held the top team GPA.
Along with the team leader, seven other teams had over a 3.3 average GPA: men's golf, men's volleyball, women's tennis, softball, women's volleyball, women's golf, and women's basketball.
Another six teams had over a 3.0 average GPA: women's lacrosse, men's cross country, women's soccer, men's soccer, men's cross country, and baseball.
"We are so proud of our student-athletes and their performance in the classroom. It is especially great to see them do so well in the fall, even with us having so many new student-athletes in their first semester of college," said Vice President for Athletics Jeff Eisen.
During the fall semester 16 student-athletes earned a 4.0 GPA:
