Ebony Wells became head coach of the University of Mount Olive cheerleading squad in fall 2008.
The UMO cheerleading squad performs at Trojan men's and women's basketball home games and selected away games. Under Wells, the first-ever UMO competitive cheer team was formed in spring 2012. Mount Olive placed second in the Small Co-Ed Division at the Battle of the Carolinas in April, 2012 at Limestone College.
The Trojan cheerleaders have attended a UCA Cheer Camp each summer and earned a second-place finish at the 2010 camp at University of Tennessee. The Trojans also collaborated with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders for a youth camp in 2010.
Wells graduated from Shaw University with a B.S. in computer information systems. She earned her master's of education from Grand Canyon University. She is pursuing her Doctoral in organizational leadership with an emphasis on instructional technology from Grand Canyon University.
While at Shaw, Wells was a member of the "Chi-Chis," Shaw's cheerleading squad.
In addition to coaching the UMO cheerleading squad, Wells is a teacher in Duplin County. Wells serves on the Deconette Board of her church St. Peter's A.M.E. and is also a Youth Leader.
Wells enjoys spending time with her family and engaging in reading "Thomas the Train, Spider Man, and Batman" books with her two younger sons and attending her teenage son's sports events. In her spare time, Wells also loves to shop, attend church functions and read spiritual books. Wells' favorite television shows are any type of reality television show.
