Mount Olive, N.C. --- The University of Mount Olive baseball team topped Emmanuel College 10-3 to open up Conference Carolinas play in Mount Olive, N.C.

How It Happened


  • Mount Olive hit the scoreboard in the first inning as Zach Mozingo drove in David Mayo for the first run of the game.
  • Two RBI base hits amounted to Emmanuel taking the lead 2-1 in the top of the third.
  • Drew Ellis tied the game at two with an RBI-single up the middle in the bottom of the fourth.
  • The Trojans went on to take and extend their lead with multiple runs in the fifth, seventh, and eighth.


  • Bruce Zimmerman (3-0) picked up the win on the hill for Mount Olive as he went seven complete, allowing three runs off five hits and struck out five. 
  • Surum led the way offensively as he went 2-for-3 with five RBI, including a two-run home run.
