Bruce Zimmermann Named To 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Baseball Team

UMO Baseball pitcher Bruce Zimmermann was named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Baseball Team, it was announced Thursday. The team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

Zimmerman, a senior from Woodstock, Md., helped the No.1 ranked Trojans Capture their 14th Conference Championship while being named to the 1st team All-Conference Carolinas team. On the season the right-hander is 9-2 overall with 122 strikeouts. He is second in NCAA DII in total strikeouts, 14th in strikeouts per nine innings, and T-12th in total victories. He is the Conference Carolinas leader in strikeouts and fourth in ERA and wins. He was named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll and Academic All-Conference Carolinas teams.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
