Dalton Gore, Mark O’Hara Named All-Tournament At CenturyLink Invitational

Mount Olive junior Dalton Gore fired a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday to take third place in the CenturyLink Invitational at Lane Tree Country Club in Goldsboro, N.C. Gore moved up three spots, finishing one over for the two-day tournament. His second day score was second only to eventual champion Danial Claytor of Barton.

The Trojans posted five of the top 11 finishers in their season-opener. Joining Gore as All-Tournament was Mark O'Hara (72-74--146), who placed fourth overall out of 53 competitors. The top five were named All-Tournament. There were no team scores kept.

David Shields (74-75--149) and Jesus Valderrama (75-74--149) tied for eighth, while Philippe Tjantele (75-75-150) took 11th in his first collegiate event. Kyle Simpson (76-76--152) and Jose Ramirez (75-79--154) also placed in the top 20.

The event was co-hosted by Mount Olive and Barton.

The Trojans compete as a team for the first time this season when Mount Olive competes in the Kiawah Island Invitational September 17 and 18 at USC Aiken.
