Trojans Tie For Second At Barton College Men's Golf Intercollegiate

Brady Hollenbacher overcame rain, wind and cold to tie for second out of 44 golfers and University of Mount Olive tied for second out of seven teams at the Barton College Men's Golf Intercollegiate. Trojan teammate Sebastian Andersen also placed in the top 10 in the 36-hole tournament, which began Monday and concluded Tuesday.

Hollenbacher followed a first-round 74 with a 1-over-par 73 Tuesday for a 147, only two shots out of first place. He tied with a golfer from Division I East Carolina.

Andersen tied for ninth with a 153, carding a 77 in the first round and a 76 in the second round. Mark O'Hara (76-80—156) tied for 15th, Jose Ramirez (82-85—167) tied for 32nd and Jesus Valderrama (79-89—168) finished 34th.

The Trojans carded a team score of 306-314—620 to finish in a tie with North Greenville, which rallied from five strokes back. Tournament host and first-round leader Barton won with a 600. No team shot under 300 Tuesday. Barton's Nicolas Fonseca won with a 145.

For the second straight day, temperatures never reached 40 degrees as golfers battled varying degrees of rainfall throughout the day.

Mount Olive is back in action this weekend as the Trojans travel to Greenwood, S.C., to compete in the Lander Bearcat Golf Classic. The 54-hole tournament opens with 36 holes Saturday and the final 18 holes Sunday. The tournament was originally scheduled for next Monday and Tuesday, but had to be moved up two days due to a change in venue.
