No. 28 Trojans Finish Sixth At Lander Bearcat Invitational

Nick Adams tied for eighth out of 90 golfers and nationally 28th-ranked University of Mount Olive took sixth place out of 17 teams after the final of the Lander Bearcat Men's Golf Invitational at Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood, S.C. The Trojans broke the lowest 54-hole card in school history with a team 865 after the third round.

Adams carded a 3-under-par 69 in the first round and a 1-under-par 71 in the second round, and a par for a 212 just nine shots off the lead. Jesus Valderrama also hit under par for the tournament, following a 2-under-par 70 with a 73 for a 1-under-par, and a par 72 for a total 215. Valderrama moved up five spots on the leader board and finished tied for 15th.

Brady Hollenbacher (75-70-74-219) and Sebastian Andersen (73-73-73-219) tied for 39th and Jose Ramirez (76-74-78-228) tied for 70th.

The Trojans carded team scores of 287 in each round Monday for a 574, which would be the third lowest score in school history in a 36-hole tournament. Nationally eighth-ranked Flagler took the tournament with a (281-274-278-833). The tournament field includes six teams nationally ranked in the top 30.

Mount Olive hits the links again next Monday when the Trojans will take place in the River Landing hosted by UNC-Pembroke in Wallace, N.C.
