Avarello Named To USILA D2 Team Of The Week

LOUISVILLE, KY. - Mount Olive's Andrew Avarello of the men's lacrosse team was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's (USILA) D2 Team the Week for the week of March 4-10 as announced by the association office. Avarello was named to the team just on the heels of being named the Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse Player of the Week.

Avarello, a sophomore from Clarence, N.Y., led the No. 15 Trojans to a 2-0 record last week after collecting 30 saves and a 73.2 save percentage with seven ground balls in 120 minutes of action last week.

The sophomore began his week by helping UMO to an 11-3 win over Walsh where he allowed only three goals with 12 saves and two ground balls. He then ended the week by coming up big in a 12-8 win over Florida Southern, as he made 18 saves in the game with five ground balls.

The Trojans are back in action this Saturday, as Mount Olive will host North Greenville University at the Ray McDonald Sr. Sports Complex at 12 p.m.
