24th-Ranked Men's Tennis Defeats Pfeiffer 7-2

Henric Falkenberg and Matt Finnerty combined for a doubles win and posted wins in singles as nationally 24th-ranked University of Mount Olive extended its winning streak to six with a 7-2 victory over Pfeiffer University in Conference Carolinas men's tennis Monday at Misenheimer, N.C. The win kept the Trojans unbeaten in conference play.

Mount Olive (8-3 overall, 4-0 Conference Carolinas) led 2-1 after doubles play as Falkenberg and Finnerty won 8-5 at No. 2 doubles. Lautaro Vazquez and Martim Sousa posted a matching 8-5 victory at No. 3 doubles.

Finnerty won 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, while Falkenberg held on for a 6-1, 3-6, 10-3 win at No. 4 singles. Edgar Bub won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, Paul Wiederspahn posted a 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles and Sousa won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6 singles.

Mount Olive is right back in action Tuesday as the Trojans travel to Belmont, N.C., to take on Belmont Abbey in a Conference Carolinas match-up. Match time is 1 p.m.
