Men's Volleyball's Poole Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Mount Olive, N.C. – University of Mount Olive men's volleyball junior Robert Poole was named to the 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® Men's At-Large Team, it was announced Thursday. The at-large teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes in golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, swimming, men's volleyball, water polo, and wrestling for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

The Academic All-District® teams include the student-athletes from eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the sixth year of the expanded Academic All-America® program. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America® Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

A native of Enfield, England, Poole was named first-team all-Conference Carolinas after amassing 317 kills, 3.48 per set, and a program-record 54 service aces as the Trojans advanced to the Conference Carolinas Tournament championship game. Nationally, Poole finished the season ranked fourth in aces per set, 14th in attacks per set and points per set, and 15th in kills per set. A double-major in biology and chemistry, he was also named to the Conference Carolinas Presidential Honor Roll and Academic All-Conference Carolinas teams.

First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
