Men's Volleyball Picked 2nd In Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches Poll

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - University of Mount Olive men's volleyball team was picked to finish second in the Conference Carolinas standings as voted on by the league head coaches. The Barton Bulldogs narrowly edged out the Trojans by two total points and one first-place vote.

Mount Olive finished last season as the runner-up in the Men's Volleyball Championship, posting a record of 18-10 overall and 14-4 in league play.

Three all-conference performers return for UMO in Josh DonahueRobert Poole, and Bret Rutledge as this year's players to watch for the Trojans. Poole appeared on the Bryan Ivie list as one of the nation's top opposite hitters, while Rutledge earned a spot on the Karch Kiraly list for top outside hitters as found on

Head coach David Heller added 10 freshmen to his roster to join the returning 11 Trojans from the 2017 season. Four middle blockers, two liberos, three outside hitters and an opposite/right side comprise the incoming class of 2022.
