Women's Golf Finishes Eighth At Flagler Fall Slam

Nationally 47th-ranked Mount Olive moved up a spot and finished eighth out of 14 teams at the Flagler Women's Golf Fall Slam at St. Augustine, Fla. The field for the 36-hole tournament, which concluded Tuesday, included three teams ranked in the national top 10 by Golfstat.

Virginia Lane (77-82--159) tied for 22nd out of 79 golfers, while Julie Loennechen (79-81--160) was a shot behind and tied for 26th. Stefany King (83-80--163) tied for 35th, Anne Barboteau (85-83--168) tied for 46th and Lovisa Tillstrom (84-85--169) tied for 48th.

The Trojans followed Monday's 323 with a 326 Tuesday for a 36-hole score of 649 as Mount Olive finished ahead of nationally 38th-ranked Carson-Newman (Tenn.). No. 6 Barry (Fla.) won the tournament with a 598. Also competing were fourth-ranked and tournament host Flagler and No. 10 West Florida, along with two more teams ranked among the top 18 in the nation.

The Flagler Fall Slam was Mount Olive's fall season finale. The Trojans begin their spring season in February.
