Women's Golf Finishes Second In Weather-Shortened Converse Spring Invite

Anne Barboteau and Julie Loennechen both placed in the top 10 out of 86 golfers as University of Mount Olive finished second out of 16 teams at the Converse Spring Invite in Spartanburg, S.C. Tuesday's second round of the scheduled 36-hole tournament was canceled due to the weather.

Barboteau finished fourth with a 77, while Loennechen tied for ninth with a 79. Stefany King (82) tied for 23rd, Denise Dange (85) tied for 33rd and Julia Kaeding (87) tied for 39th.

The Trojans carded a team score of 323, finishing nine shots behind tournament champion King University and three strokes ahead of tournament host Converse College.

Mount Olive returns to action next week at the Armstrong State Pirate Classic in Savannah, Ga. The tournament gets underway Monday and concludes Tuesday.
