Women's Cross Country Finishes Third At Elon Invitational

University of Mount Olive beat out all non-Division I teams and finished third out of six teams overall at the Elon University Women's Cross Country Invitational Saturday at Elon, N.C. The Trojans finished just one point behind Division I North Carolina A&T.

Running predominantly as a "pack," Trojan runners finished consecutively from 14th through 18th place. Rebecca Farnsley finished 14th with a time of 20:45, while three UMO runners – Kelsey Valentine, Paulena Kremling and Bailee Henry – took the next three spots within a fraction of a second of one another with a time of 20:46. Mireia Sune (21:24) finished 18th out of 50 runners.

The Trojans top five runners compiled a team score of 80 points, right behind second-place North Carolina A&T with 79 points. Event host and Division I Elon won the meet with 24 points.

Mount Olive returns to action September 26 as the Trojans travel to Wingate, N.C., to compete in the Wingate University Invitational.
