University of Mount Olive finished 10th out of 37 teams at the Queens University Royal Women's Cross Country Challenge Friday at Charlotte, N.C. The Trojans finished first out of 10 Conference Carolinas schools and finished ahead of regional top 10 schools UNC Pembroke and Coker.
Bailee Henry was the Trojans' top finisher, placing 28th out of 325 runners in the 5k event.
Henry ran the course in a time of 19:00.5 for the 13th fastest time in Trojan history. Rebecca Farnsley (19:21.3) was 46th. Kelsey Valentine (19:36.4) finished 61st. Paulena Kremling (20:18.1) finished 118th, Julia Bridges (20:33.4) finished 132nd, Mireia Sune (20:54.8) finished 147th and Emily Shaw (21:28.5) was 188th to complete the Trojans' scoring.
The Trojans compiled 316 points to finish two points ahead of 11th-place UNC Pembroke and 113 points ahead of the next Conference Carolinas foe Limestone. Mount Olive also beat out three of the eight Division I schools competing in the meet. Division I Davidson finished first with 56 points.
Mount Olive is idle until October 23 when the Trojans travel to Belmont, N.C., to compete in Conference Carolinas Championship, hosted by Belmont Abbey College.
