How It Happened

  • Mount Olive and Florida Southern were in a pitchers duel for the first three innings before both teams got their first hits.
  • Despite each team getting a hit in the fourth, the game remained scoreless heading into the sixth when UMO would record their second hit of the game on a Drew Ellis single down the right-field line that missed giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead by inches as it banged off the yellow stripe on the outfield wall.
  • Jon Cosme came into pinch-run for Ellis and stole second but Mount Olive was kept off the boards once again.
  • Florida Southern had runners at first and third in the top of the seventh when the game was suspended and then eventually called as a 0-0.

  • German Reyes started on the mound for UMO and pitched a solid six complete innings surrendering one hit, two walks, and struck out four getting the no-decision.

  • In Head Coach Carl Lancaster's 32-year coaching career at Mount Olive the Trojans have only tied one other time in the regular season. The game was in 1992 against Wingate.
