Azeez Named Conference Carolinas Player Of The Week

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - The Conference Carolinas office announced this week's Players of the Week and the University of Mount Olive's Tobi Azeez earned the honors for the first time this season. He is the first Trojan to win a conference player of the week award.

Azeez and the Trojans competed on a week-long season-opening road trip last week in which Mount Olive went 4-1 winning all of their matches in straight sets after falling in the first game of the season. UMO picked up wins against Lindenwood, Quincy, Urbana, and Tusculum.

A sophomore outside hitter out of Eltham, Victoria, Australia, Azeez averaged 3.83 kills per set last week for Mount Olive. He finished his four matches on the week hitting .315. Azeez collected double-digit kills in three matches on the week, which included a season-best 15 in a win over Tusculum. Azeez also had nine digs, six blocks and two service aces in his four matches.

The Trojans open up play inside Kornegay Arena against No. 3 Brigham Young University on Friday and Saturday, January 17 & 18.
