UMO Women's Golf Completes Day One Of Battle At Hilton Head

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The University of Mount Olive women's golf team finished in a tie for 10th after the first day of the Battle at Hilton Head in Hilton Head, S.C. Monday afternoon.

  • Lindsey Burton and Johanna Andersson led the Trojans as they both were seven over par with a 79 on the day and finished tied for 30th. 

  • Burton started at No. 3 and was able to par the first two holes before picking up a birdie on No. 5 . She ended up shooting better on holes 1-through-9 as she was two over as compared to five over on holes 11-18.

  • Andersson had the opposite day as Burton as she had a better day on holes 11-18 shooting two over and was five over on 1-9. After starting on No. 4 and starting the day with a bogey and struggling with a bogey on No. 7 and double bogey on No. 9 Andersson went onto to par her next six holes.

  • The field at the Battle at Hilton Head had six out of the 21 participating teams ranked inside the top-35 in the Golfstat NCAA DII rankings.
