Trojans Sweep Valkyries of Converse in Three Sets

MOUNT OLIVE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's volleyball team swept the Valkyries of Converse College in three sets on Wednesday night in Conference Carolinas action at Kornegay Arena in Mount Olive, NC. UMO improves to 7-13 overall and 3-9 against conference opponents, while Converse falls to 9-20 and 5-7.

The Trojans and Valkyries fought all night long with sets two and three decided by just two points in each set. 

Trojan Leaders
The Trojans were led by Ania Keene and Starr Sergent with 12 kills each. Nicholle Yeo led UMO with 20 assists with Madison Goodman close behind collecting 17 of her own. Jimnelly Del Valle tallied 15 digs to lead Mount Olive, but Keene was close behind with 13 digs on the night.

Valkyrie Leaders
The Valkyries were led by Elizabeth Yohe with 12 kills and Brittany Tepedino with 10. Lauren Tharrington led the Valkyries with 23 assists while Yohe (19) and Tepedino (13) combined for 32 of the teams 65 digs.

Key Moment
The biggest momentum swing came in the third set when the Trojans came back from trailing 18-13 to tie the set at 20 all following a 7-2 rally.

Mount Olive is back in action this Friday when they host the Hawks of Chowan University at Kornegay Arena for Senior Night which will honor Kamber Skeen, Ania Keene, and Allison Cribb prior to the match.
