Trojans Claim 29th Place Finish At Royal Cross Country Challenge

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina - The University of Mount Olive women's cross country team finished 29th of 63 teams competing at the Royal Cross Country Challenge this afternoon in Charlotte, NC. Senior Leah Hanle was the highest placing Trojans as she crossed the line second behind a runner from Division I Wofford. 

MEET INFORMATION
The Trojans finished 29th of 63 teams competing at the Royal XC Challenge. The field was a mix of runners competing from all three Divisions, I, II, and III. UMO had a total team score of 730.

INSIDE THE RESULTS
Hanle led the Trojans as she finished second with a time of 16:54.3. Amber Owens was the second UMO runner to cross the line as she finished inside the top-40 with a 38th place finish and a time of 18:30.2.

Lena Kaster ran a 20:07 time and crossed the line in 216th place. She was followed by Maddie Carkeet in 228th running a 20:12.6.

Caitlin Carnegie, Elizabeth Lopez, and Erin Dillon all ran in their first races of the season. Carnegie finished 395 with a 22:23 time. Lopez came in 403rd running 22:29.1 while Dillon rounded out the Trojan lineup with a 23:19.1 time crossing the line 439th of 541 runners.

The Trojans are back on the course next Friday, Oct. 18, when they travel to High Point, NC, to compete in the Vertcross Invitational hosted by High Point University.
